Dorothea Beringer I graduated in Computer Science at the University of Bern in 1989. After working for some time as a software engineer I got involved into consulting for quality assurance, software development methods, life cycle models and project management. With the growing popularity of object-oriented software development I also started to use and teach object-oriented analysis methods. Though thrilled by the object-oriented paradigm, I had a hard time with the way how many analysis methods treated global behaviour. The deeper I looked into the issue, the more interesting it got - and the research work for my thesis was started. So from 1994 to 1997 I worked as a research assistant at the Software Engineering Laboratory of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne.
Starting December 1997, I will participate as a postdoctoral research assistant in the CHAIMS project at Stanford University.
